I’m going to be honest, I didn’t feel like writing today’s Daily Millionaire. I am back home from Florida and I have a lot of things to take care of before I leave tomorrow. I’m not really the type to batch content, and writing didn’t feel like where I wanted to put my energy today. But I did it/am doing it anyway. Here’s why: This is a commitment I made to myself AND to my audience. Sure, some people may not have noticed if I skipped a day. But some people who are really enjoying the messages would have, and I definitely would have known too. Sometimes we have to do things even when we don’t feel like it for the simple fact that we committed to it. So I decided to make it a learning lesson for you and for me. Here’s what to do the next time you don’t “feel like it” when it comes to taking care of business in your business. Decide the importance of the task and consider the consequences if you don’t do it today – As productive and consistent as I am, I would also consider myself one hell of a procrastinator! So if it doesn’t HAVE to be done that day, or if you can put it off…. Put it in your calendar for another day – This is an important piece because you’re not just saying later, you’re saying, okay- today is not the day, but tomorrow is. (or Thursday or next Monday). Schedule it out and commit to geting it done at a later time Bank or batch content – So I’m not much of a “batcher” because I feel like my energy infused in my content is what makes it more potent, so when I write or create- I want it to be in the moment. Some people are really great at being productive and batching content (or tasks)- if that’s you, then you won’t really have a problem in that department. But if it’s not you… consider a “bank” of content that you (or your VA) can pull from on the days “you don’t feel like it”. For me and my team- this usually consists of repurposing old posts or podcasts that did really well, or pulling a piece of content from a paid offer that can be used as a standalone post or email. Delegate – If you have a supportive team on board that you can trust… delegate the task to them! Just because something has to be done in your business, does NOT mean it has to be done by YOU specifically. Make space for it anyway – If you decided that the commitment is one you are going to uphold and there is no way to push it out, delegate it or do it in advance… then grin and bear it baby! And do it anyway. (just like I am now). And let me tell you, this email is flying out of me within minutes… as soon as I decided that it had to be done, by me, today. Lastly, don’t beat yourself up over it. In the grand scheme of things, this thing that you’re stressing over is likely so miniscule it won’t even matter later. You don’t want to create a business that rules you, that bogs you down or overwhelms you. The business you create should support the freedom you long for. (Having a great supportive team helps a lot with this!) We are all humans, there are going to be lots of times probably when you don’t really feel like it, or you have other personal things to take care of, or maybe you just want to enjoy vacation without having to open up the laptop. Next time that happens, consider the above (and/or) infuse it into your business structures today so you don’t really have to worry about it again. |
