5 ways to show up in business (Your bank account will thank you)
Good morning ladies and thank you for joining me so early. THIS is your wake up call. I value your time and mine, so I’m going to keep this short, sweet and valuable. So today I am talking about the 5 ways you need to show up in business to make more money.
Now just a little bit about me before I dive in. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Jenn Scalia and I am a confidence coach and business mentor. I work with other coaches and entrepreneurs to help them ditch their fears, crush their self doubts and show up in their businesses with confidence and courage.
If you’re not making the kind of money you want to make in your business, or you’re attracting the wrong types of clients this call is for you. Something is missing from your marketing and business plan- and it’s not a sales funnel, launch strategy or drop dead gorgeous website. It’s you. It’s the way you’re showing up and the way potential clients are viewing you.
#1 Be clear and concise- if you lack clarity or a complete understanding of what you do and who you help, essentially you will confuse potential clients and you won’t end up helping anybody. I’m not talking about being super niched, or giving yourself a title or a tagline or a business name, or figuring out what color underwear your ideal client wears but you need to be able to express clearly, who you help and how you help them. Focus on your results and who you can help the most. If you still don’t know the answers to this. You need to coach more people. Put out a free or inexpensive offer and test your skills- test your results, see what types of people you really enjoy working with. I see so many coaches and entrepreneurs get caught up in the “what should I call my business” or “what should I call myself” – I admit, I was one of them. I did niothing in my first year of business, because the industry told me that I couldn’t just be a life coach, thatI had to be super niched down and that I had to be the expert in one thing. It kept me stuck and I don’t want that to happen to you.
#2 With vulnerability- This is all about being a real person- not just a product or a service. Some people get scared of the word vulnerability, and think it means they have to let their guard down or tell people their deepest darkest secrets. It’s not about that at all. Vulnerability makes you human. It makes you relatable and it makes you LIKEABLE. People buy from people they like and people they trust. Vulnerable means being honest. it means sharing your story, it means sharing your struggles and letting people know WHY you do what you do. It means that you’re not almighty and perfect coach, but that you can relate to your clients because you;ve been where they’ve been. When I was working as a relationship coach, I was very open and candid about the fact that I was going through my second divorce at age 33. Of course I didn’t want to admit this at first. How the hell could I help people in their relationships when my love life was a mess. Truth is, I knew I could still help people and the women that ended up being my clients, loved me for it. They told me that they wanted to work with me because I was REAL and they knew I could relate to them because I had been through the same struggles and came out on top. Be vulnerable damnit. People love that shit. They eat it up. Bottom line: bring more of YOU into your business
3. Be Visible- Now this is a biggie. You can have the best product, the best service, be the best coach and have an amazing program or course, but if no one knows about you- it doesn’t matter. If you want to be successful, you have to be seen. Put yourself out there: even doing those things that make you uncomfortable. Now I know some of you are cringing right now- thinking I can’t do that. I’m an introvert, I don’t like putting myself out there, I don’t like promoting, etc. Well my darling, I’m here to tell you those are all excuses and I’m going to give it to you straight- if you’re not willing to put yourself out there, you will not be as successful as you can be and you certainly not make the money you want to make. Now this this isn’t about overly promoting or pushing your services in people’s faces. Go back to #2. Use your personality and your vulnerabiltiy to stand out. This doesn’t mean just commenting or liking people’s posts. This means making your own posts, and not just in one group. In as many groups as you can, on as many social media platforms as you can- including your personal profile. Make sure that people know who you are and what you do.
Think for a second, how did you find out about people like Marie Forleo, gabby bernstein, becky dickson, or think about how you found out about this call. And yes, I just put myself in a category with all those other amazing women. It comes down to being seen,which equals being known.
It’s time to stop hanging out on the sidelines, stop treading water and start making waves. Don’t just have a business, show up in your business.
4. Action Taker- Knowledge without action means nothing. You can take a million courses, thousands of programs and watch webinars up the wazoo but if you don’t take what you learn and put it into action, you’re just throwing money down the drain. You will always just be chasing the next shiny object while you bank account dwindles and your debt piles up. It’s time to stop messing around and start taking action. Yea, you know that idea that you’ve been thinking about for the last month? Just do it. That offer you’ve been contemplating putting out there- just offer it. A big part of my success and the fact that it seems like I blew up overnight, is that I took ACTION. I had an idea and instead of messing around. I put it out there. Everything I’m talking about today combined with action is how I was able to go from making an average of $800 a month in my business, to making $6,000 a month consistently, to making $12,000 in one month, to making $12,000 in one week. I want you to start taking action TODAY. And I’lll go one further for you. If you have an idea on something and you’re not sure or are hesitating to put it out there, send it to me. And finally, the 5th way that you need to show up in your business is with CONFIDENCE. Now of course, you didn’t think that I was going to have this entire call and not mention the most important part. This is what I do. This is what I help women entrepreneurs and coaches with. You can do all of the things I just mentioned, but if you do it from a place of fear or desperation, it will show.The energy in your posts and in your delivery will translate to the people seeing it and they will not buy. Likewise, if you go out there with courage and confidence and complete belief in what you have to offer, people will feel that energy and they will love it.
If you don’t believe in yourself and your gifts, no one else will either. Period. Even if you have to “fake it util you make it”- you need to present yourself with confidence, security and like you have the best to offer- because I believe you do. I believe we all have something amazing to offer. It doesn’t matter who’s doing something similar, or what other people will think. You have to own it. If you don’t believe in the power of your product or service. No one else will.
